Hostetler Turner Special (25%) Plan

The Wendell Hostetler giant scale Turner Special plan is 25% scale and consists of 2 large sheets that clearly illustrate all structure as well as show installation of servos and landing gear. The basic structure use conventional modelling tools and materials such as balsa and plywood. The building techniquies required are straight forward and easily accomplished by anyone with previous model building experience.

The full size Turner Special aircraft won the 1938 Thompson Trophy race at 456km/hr. The original aircraft was put into storage for 29 years at Weir cook airport until it was restored. It was in 1972 transferred to the Smithsonian. The aircraft retirde with less than 30 hours flying time.
