Hostetler Lancair IV (27.6%) Plan

The Wendell Hostetler giant scale Lancair IV plan is 27.6% scale and consists of 2 large sheets that clearly illustrate all structure as well as show installation of servos and landing gear. The basic structure use conventional modelling tools and materials such as balsa and plywood. The building techniquies required are straight forward and easily accomplished by anyone with previous model building experience.

The full size Lancair IV in 2014 set a world speed record for solo flight between the earths poles for an aircraft under 3000kgs in a 175 hour long series of flights. The flight also broke a record from Fairbanks, Alaska to Kinston, North Carolina. The aircraft was modified to hold 361 US gallons of fuel.  In total 101 Lancair IV's were manufactured.
