TBM-3E Avenger Short Kit byCharles Kellogg
This is the Short kit for the giant scale TBM-3E Avenger by Charles Kellogg. The wingspan of this amazing model is 108 inches and is 1/5.79th scale. This short kit consists of a complete set of laser cut balsa and plywood formers and ribs as laid out on the plans which will enable to construction of this model. The TBM Avenger features a three piece wing and the basic structures use conventional “modeling” tools and materials such as balsa and plywood, and the techniques are straightforward; easily accomplished by anyone with previous model building experience.
The Avenger entered US service in 1942 and first saw action during the Battle of Midway. Despite losing five of the first siz aircraft on its combat debut, it survived in service to become one of the best torpedo bombers of World War 2. It was even greatly modified after the war and remained in service until the 1960's. There are still a number of airworthy examples flying around the world today.
